Organic gardening is about gardening with nature and not against it. They call upon species of vegetables and fruits well adapted to the local soil.

In order not to tire the soil, they practice crop rotation and ask for help from natural auxiliaries to protect crops from predators and parasites.

Earth: living environment

The organic gardener produces his flowers, fruits and vegetables by considering the earth not as an inert support but as a living element. In order not to disturb its many micro-organisms, it uses suitable tools (grelinette, aerobeche, biobeche) and "natural" treatment products (for example: liquid manure of plants nettle-based, of comfrey or from horsetail).

Since they are treated only with "mild" preventive or curative products, organic vegetables and fruits should be chosen from the species most resistant to diseases. Their local origin will guarantee good adaptation to regional climatic conditions.

Another principle of the good organic gardener: do not waste anything. Whether it is from the seeds that we will sow one by one rather than in handfuls, until the rainwater that we collect (barrel placed under a gutter, underground tank, basin). All valuable plant "waste" (vegetable peeling tops, grass cuttings, pruning residues from fruit trees) will be removed. compost to give a natural and free fertilizer. Finally, by sowing green manures (Legumes) to bury in the soil, it will be enriched with humus without using chemical fertilizers derived from petroleum.

"Soft" methods of protection

For fight against "weeds" (which are often good herbs whose properties we do not know), we will use the mulching or mulch, instead of using herbicides that pollute the water table.

By promoting the biodiversity of crops and habitats in the garden, we will attract animals that “protect” crops: birds, hedgehogs, ladybugs, hoverflies, beetles, bats, etc.

Respect and curiosity

The key word that sums up the behavior of the perfect organic gardener is “respect”. Respect for the soil, the air, the course of the seasons, the rhythm of nature ...

Finally, the organic gardener will regularly document himself in the press and books to keep abreast of new economic and ecological cultivation methods, while keeping an eye on old techniques. Beyond a fad, consuming organic fruits and vegetables is a great way to stay healthy. Because according to doctors, pesticides and chemical fertilizers are partly responsible for many autoimmune and hormone-dependent diseases (lupus, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, chronic fatigue, multiple sclerosis, cancer ...).

Garden organically to keep fit and protect natural resources (soil and water) for future generations!
